Biography
Charles R. Dillingham, 80, of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, February 18, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving family members at the time of his death. A Jamestown resident most of his life, he was born April 13, 1940, in Jamestown, a son of Stella M. Dillingham and Alexander R. Dillingham.
Charles graduated in 1958 from Jamestown High School and was proud of his service in the U.S.Army during the Korean war. After completing his military service, he graduated in 1976 from Jamestown Community College with a Degree in Applied Science. Before retiring, Charles worked for 43 years as a manager in production control for Blackstone Corporation.
Charles always enjoyed playing golf, reading a good book, woodworking and carving, vacations at the ocean, and spending precious time with all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Dillingham, whom he married July 2, 1966; son, Jason Dillingham, of Jamestown; daughter, Janelle Welch (Jonathan), of Alexandria, VA; and 2 grandchildren: Laurynn Dillingham, of Cleveland, OH; Harmony Dillingham, of Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Richard and Paul Dillingham; and a sister: Joan Penhollow.
Due to COVID a private funeral service for immediate family will be held at First Lutheran Church.
